In addition to the vision and dental screenings conducted by school nurses and other school providers, Noorda CARES will offer expanded health screenings, including:

• Vital signs
• Cardiopulmonary and gastrointestinal exams
• HEENT (Head, ears, eyes, nose, oral, throat examinations)
• Musculoskeletal conditions
• Neurological tests
• Vision tests

Please be aware that school nurses screen students in accordance with Utah state law and provide referrals for follow-up care as needed. It’s important to follow your school nurse’s guidance and consult an eye care or healthcare professional for any identified concerns.

No—parents must provide consent for their child to participate in these health screenings.

While student doctors (and their faculty supervisors) will conduct the health screenings, we still need funds for:

• Transportation: (Shuttles for student doctors)
• Medical supplies: (Blood pressure cuffs, pulse oximeters, thermometers, scales, stethoscopes, glucometer test strips, etc.)
• Administrative supplies: (Folding tables and chairs, hand sanitizer, garbage cans, paper towels, general office supplies, bottled waters/juices, etc.)
• Technology: (iPads for streamlined data entry, app/website development for communication purposes or follow-up care)
• Staffing: (Partial FTE funding for translators, administrative coordinators, and so on)
• Marketing materials: (Multi-language paperwork, promotional items for children, volunteer shirts)
